I've been working on a design for a brooding beauty, friend and fellow Nashvillian//Music City Lover. Her obvious talent is multi-faceted, has a depth of genius and infuriatingly (read: admirably) it all seems to come so naturally to her. She is quick-witted, hysterically sarcastic, acutely protective of the ones she loves, has a stunning drive and work ethic, and there is no doubt in my mind that she will do great things. (Could I possibly be more gushing?) I love this girl, and I love collaborating, trading skills and ideas, hanging out and drinking wine with her.
Pictured above is my inspiration for her brand. Images that are simultaneously alluring and terrifying // dark, haunting, ethereal, bewitching, elegant, muted. A new word I discovered is gossamery • "of or like a fine, filmy cobweb seen on grass or bushes or floating in the air during calm weather, especially in autumn." I like this new word and definition, and I believe it is fitting because when you think of a spider's web, you do think "thin and light;" but when you take a closer look at it and what it is made to do, you realize what a powerful material it really is. This is how I feel about my friend's work: it is strikingly and undeniably beautiful, but it compels you to take a deeper look into the many emotional dimensions that exist within [the piece of work itself, but also you, yourself].
I will continue to be vague about her identity until the work is complete. Until then, enjoy these images that I thoroughly enjoyed discovering.
